SINGER SONGWRITER
La Anni sings. Pretty much everything. And she loves it. From rock and pop to dance and musicals, all the way to ballads, in German, English, and French. At the same time, she writes her own music, processing her own experiences. Sometimes a performer, sometimes a songwriter, mostly somewhere in between.
AIR: the song about dropping out of school
La Anni's first song in German was written in the middle of lockdown – when breathing took on a whole new meaning. At the same time, after dropping out of school and many years of simply functioning, she felt she finally needed to breathe again. Thus, a very real bodily sensation became a song about the moment when "I have to get out of here" finally turns into "I can finally breathe."
BECOMING LA ANNI
Singer/songwriter
I've been singing since I could talk. The first recordings were made before my second birthday. The dream of a mini playback show remained unfulfilled – but my stage career started at 15 on a Welsh campsite with "Be My Baby" from Dirty Dancing. Three years later, I won a karaoke competition on a French campsite with "I Will Survive." So, campsites can definitely be career-boosting.
In my early twenties, I sang in Black Velvet, a rock band made up of older men. My father, a teacher, singer, and songwriter, was also in the band. This was followed by The Bandaids, my first original songs, and later 4 Rock, where music first became an outlet for personal issues.
And then came LA ANNI. The name originated during a stay in Ecuador – and stuck. Back in Germany, I started producing dance music together with Valdéro, a former student. Regarde-moi remains a minor La Anni classic to this day.
Since then, La Anni has constantly evolved. Songs about various topics have gradually become songs about what truly resonates with me. With LUFT, I began writing in German for the first time. Today, German and English blend seamlessly in my songs – sometimes there are even two versions of the same song. Anyone who listens closely will quickly notice: a story feels different in English than in German.
My performances have been very diverse to this day: from funerals, to alpine weddings in dirndls, weddings on the Drachenfels, ski trips, Christmas or school concerts, staff parties, to birthday parties in the PORTA canteen, village cafes, BAUHAUS action days, whiskey tastings, rainy jungle terraces, Indian living rooms or afternoons in the retirement home, where I conjured up sparks of memory on even the most tired faces with hits from the 50s and 60s - my secret passion.
And the genre? That's a tough one. Someone who grows up with ABBA, Beatles, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bläck Fööss, EAV and their father's folk music, and later sings pretty much everything from 70s old-man rock to AC/DC to Céline Dion, musicals and opera, eventually doesn't have to choose anymore.
La Anni came about precisely from this: from all these musical worlds – and from the ever-increasing need to transform my own life into music.

I had a very personal song written for my mother's funeral. From the very beginning, I was deeply touched by how sensitively and individually my wishes and my story were addressed. The finished song moved me profoundly. It was incredibly personal and perfectly expressed the feelings I could hardly put into words myself. We played it at the funeral, and it deeply touched the guests as well—many had tears in their eyes. Especially in such a difficult moment, this song was something truly special for me. I am so grateful for the loving and heartfelt interpretation and will always associate this song with the memory of my mother. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for something truly personal and unique. ❤️
